Hetmyer, Lewis dropped for Sri Lanka ODIs on fitness grounds

West Indies forgot about Shimron Hetmyer and Evin Lewis on wellness grounds from their 15-part squad for the up and coming ODI arrangement in Sri Lanka. Darren Bravo has been reviewed into the squad alongside Rovman Powell and Fabian Allen, the last having completely recouped from the leg damage he continued in India toward the end of last year.

“Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer passed up a great opportunity because of the way that they missed the mark in the wellness test,” Roger Harper, CWI’s Lead Selector said. “They will be remembered fondly, Lewis was the group’s best batsman in the ongoing Colonial Medical Insurance ODI Series against Ireland where he batted with incredible levelheadedness and demonstrated the bedrock for the group’s arrangement win. Hetmyer had all the earmarks of being starting to act responsibly and was a basic piece of the group’s batting gathering.”

Harper additionally said that the side is hoping to expand on its ongoing exhibitions in India, where they beat Afghanistan 3-0 and went down 2-1 battling against India.

“Sri Lanka are an excellent group in their own conditions. I don’t anticipate that it should be simple yet our group has indicated that it is entirely fit. These are the arrangement we should win so as to climb the rankings.

The West Indies squad will withdraw for Sri Lanka on Saturday (February 8) and have a pre-arrangement camp in Colombo before they face the hosts in three ODIs, starting February 22. The ODI leg will be trailed by two T20Is, the squad for which will be named later.
